Merry Christmas (cont.)

I was out in the city doing last minute shopping and being someone who has never really seen a true Christmas celebration or even 'smelt' christmas in the air (pardon the lousy english), it was an eye-opener for me.

Friends

Due to the fact that i am too bored and have nothing better to do, i decided to polish up my English. I decided to start from the basics so i picked some easy words to learn and apply.

Urban dictionary, being an up-to-date, user friendly online dictionary and providing different meanings and examples on how to use the word, was my source of reference. This was what i learnt today.

FRIENDS:
People who are aware of how retarded you are and still manage to be seen in public with you. people who make you laugh till you pee your pants. people who cry for you when one of your special items disappear. when you dont have enough money to get a ice cream, they chip in. knows all of your internet passwords. who would never make you cry just to be mean.
I think I have a lot of friends that would fit this perfectly.

Friends are peeps you can trust and take advice from.
its ok im here for you dont cry

this is a long one...
Friends are those who are continously there for support when it is needed... ones that will even though dislike you significant, will sit there and talk to them juss for the sake of pleasing you and making you happy due to seeing them both in the same room... also people that will drive across the island after a long day of work cause you called them crying hysterically cause you found out your other half was cheating... and also the ones that will no matter what they've told you in the past about you current and you didnt believe they will never say I TOLD YOU SO when you find out, although its itching to come out... the ones that will take the blame that you needed to put on sum one beside yourself and your half, for you depression and suicidal modes that you tend to go through... basically friends are juss a phone call away, and are more like family...
juss ask and i'll pull through, cause isnt that what friends are all about?

weird ones starts to come up
The TV show which started a billion different hair style trends
"Can I have the same hair style as that girl in Friends?"
"Which one?"
"Um, I think she's called Rachel."
"No, I meant which style?"

Word used as a gentle attempt to either turn someone down, or break up with a current relationship. As in these famous examples:
"I just wanna be friends"
"I like you as a friend"
"Could we still be friends?"
v1. To dump someone's ass casually.
v2. To give someone the friends
Evan: So, how's it going with her?
Karl: Ohh, she gave me the friends last night.
Evan: Shit, sorry to hear that.

Like fiend without the r
read the definition ^

The bastards that cause peer pressure
aw f*** its my friends that made me eat that dam burrito

A category of definition on urbandictionary.com. When you try to define a word, it asks you to pick a category, and one of the categories is 'friends'. Logically, you would think this would be the place to talk about your friends. However, just about every entry like that is deleted by someone who says 'urbandictionary is not a personal message board'. If it's not a personal message board, then why does this category even exist!?!?!?!
I think I'll talk about Chris under 'friends'. WHat, it's been deleted!? Damn you, urbandictionary, and your deceptive ways!!!!!

Friends are ppl who dont go off with members of the opposite sex and forget u exist......
Gal 1- "ooh hes fit....byee"
Gal 2- (says nothin because her 'friend'has already ran off)

Will only disappoint and let you down.
After you ask your friend for help, he makes some bs excuse not too, you shake your head, shrug your shoulders and mumble, "friends"...... ..

Man, english is hard!!! Just one word but so many meanings...
And i miss my friends ...(not theTV show, not those who will dissapoint you nor the bastard who causes peer pressure and not the fiend with the 'r')

time travellin'

For those who manage to stay away from TVs, radios, newspaper or hv no internet connections or any media watsoever for the past few months (like me) read this :

Daylight savings
WA, following the eastern states of Australia, has now shifted its time one hour ahead due to daylight savings. This change will be (has been) effective from 2:00am (WA) 3rd Dec 2006 indefinitely.

A few of the public members have been asked to comment on this issue and these are their views:

Have you heard of daylight savings? What do you think about it?

"I don't knoi anything about this. Where can I save them? What is the interest rate?"-anonymous businessman

"F*** off"- anonymous gangster

"Yes, i've heard about it. I think it's a smart way in improve our current economic state"- anonymous economist

"Yes, I heard of it. But I'm totally against it because that would mean that my kid would have to study longer in school and worse still, my curtains would be faded because of the sunlight. My husband would have to work longer hours because he would have to start at 8.00am which is the original 7.00am until 5.00pm (editor: which the original 4.00pm, so no increase). But thank God they pay him by hour."-anonymous housewife

"Really?Oh yeah, i think i heard of it. They shift your time one hour ahead everyday, which means that you have 23 hours in a day. Wait, then that's unfair because you lose one hour everyday. No, is it gain or lose? Yeah it's lose. So everyday you lose (mumble to herself: 24 minus 23...) one hour. So one month you lose 50 hours (editor's note: should be around 30). That means you grow older faster. I don't want that!!"- anonymous blondie

"Ya... I know it. But i dont like it loh...cos u know ahh...is very confusing u know? Haf to change eveliting...like my watch loh, my computer loh, my handfon loh, my PDA loh...very mahuan (troublesome) ahh...aiyo, soli ahh, i m late liao becos of this sunlight saving thing loh... daylight saving ahh...paiseh (loosely translated to 'so embarrassing') ahh...make me one hour behind...so i haf to go now... thang you ahh... my name is XXX (protected)....remember my name ahh... i will buy your newspaper one... "-anonymous tourist

Just like ten years ago when daylight savings was introduced in WA, there were mixed reactions towards this issue. There were some who supported it, some who didn't and most of them had no idea what it is about. Let's hope that the next time when daylight savings is re-introduced, most of them would have a better and brighter idea on what it is about.
