wk 41
Last week has been very very very very busy. I was almost at the verge of going to ‘pengsan’ anytime soon.
Monday- Local Analgesic test & Race. I was so preoccupied with preparing for the race I totally didn’t start studying until 8pm the night before. So it was sort of an all-nighter, just that I overslept (was supposed to wake up at 2am but ended up waking up at 6) and feeling so crap after. But thank god the test turned out ok. Then was the race- had to prepare all the clues and maps and everything else needed during lunch so that I can hand it to another person to help me take charge. But who knows, they didn’t carried out everything I’ ve asked them to, station masters weren’t briefed properly and my bike’s lock cannot be opened during the race(I was devastated when I realize I cant cycle the bike for the race- which meant I had to walk all around to make sure every station is going ok-and I was seriously thinking of jus waiting at the finishing line for 1.5 hours and jus talk thru the walkie-talkie). But thank goodness I found another bike. Generally the race went ok, a few hiccups (which will be pointed out during the post mortem).
Tuesday- research test & opening+ seminar. Didn’t start studying until 11pm (seriously too tired). Luckily the morning was off for me so could still study. But the best thing which happen was – they cancelled the test(1.5 hrs before the test) and at that point of time I haven’t even gone thru half the stuff I needed to study. I was jumping for joy(but didn’t get stuck) so I headed off to the opening ceremony. After, headed back home(was going to study for the next test) but by the time I’m done doing all the random stuff it was time to go for the seminar already. Fairly interesting- about this chinese lady growing up in Australia and the racial discrimination at her time, this aboriginal person who wanted Australia to solve the problems with Aborigines before even tyring to become a multicultural country and this muslim AFL player who talked mainly about his life as a footie player (which was quite inspiring). After that, headed off to cell.
Wednesday- Talent nite-I totally slacked off refusing to do any study, recovering from the stress before. But I manage to do a few lectures in the morning before going to lab and straight on to the talent nite. Like last yr I was in charge of the music which was fun. And my fren got into the second round (if he didn’t, he had to do some random acts for a mr. popular prize). The thing ended at 10.30pm.
Thursday- drilling theory test+ s p r i n g f e a s t- that was a real all-nighter- having slept for only 2 hours(2 plus to 4 plus) trying to cram 18 lectures(which I tot was only 13 lectures initially) and only manage to finish it 10 mins before the test. Then went straight for a drilling practical class which we were all in no mood to do. I even fell asleep in the afternoon lecture(which is very interesting and not boring at all). Went home to sleep for an hour before heading back to uni for the night event. And the majority of the night I was helping to sell candy floss(simply couldn’t get it at the first few rounds- took me quite a while to do it properly-fluffy and big). Totally enjoyed the last few performances – a band performance and this guitarist (winner from the night before). Pretty much everyone was singing along with the band and I was happily making my candy floss there. Wonderful feeling. Then pack up/clean up/dismantle time- which took til 12 plus am. But it was fun. And I was forced to inhaled helium and talk…haha.
Friday- football match. Attended lab in the morning, lecture after. Then rush to the main campus to help them with the match set-up. Then rush back for another lab. After the lab, rush back again to the match to watch the semi-finals and finals. And when it ended, that was it. All the hard work for this one week. It was very enjoyable to work with everyone, even got to know a few more people during the week. And had karaoke at night- totally relaxed- but too bad I had sore throat (from drinking more than 4 cups of bubble tea throughout the week and the stress must have lowered my immune system)
Probably the week to remember for this year. Taking up all the challenge and surviving thru it was really an achievement. Really couldn’t have done it without His help.:)

merdeka
but somehow the whole occasion nearly slipped out of my mind
despite me being part of the merdeka celebration @ Tav comm(do come!)
maybe it's the distance
maybe it's the people around me
maybe it's my so-busy-until-cant-update life
maybe it's the lack of atmosphere
maybe it's the absence of media coverage
maybe it jus doesnt apply to the younger generation-jus another reason to partey
meh

Missing:stuff
Stuffs that have been in my mind:
1) This sudden urge of getting a DSLR…after seeing such beautiful photos…but I think it will jus be a wishful thinking
2) Talking to angmoh…it started with a comment made by my fren: ‘how would u know, you don’t even talk to them’…and it strucked me…so now I m very conscious abt it (don’t u hate it when u r conscious abt sth…it’s jus annoying) and sort of force myself to talk to them and also trying to perfect the stupid aussie accent that I sworn will not pick up before coming to this land
3) ANZAC Day..suddenly have this thought of going to the dawn service (well ever since 06 I hv been wanting to go)…but transport is the main problem, well mainly from my house to subi train station…and not my bike is gone
4) The fact that I didn’t go to any big/social events with frens after well in 9 weeeks…I’ve been to heaps alone…such a loner..:(
5) Tomoro night...the decisions i make are always wrong...bye ciao italia
6) I need a bookshelf, a vacuum cleaner
7) Stuff that I need to do during the 9 days break (pls don rob it off me)
8) God …this shud b first
9) sleep (totally deprived last night)

Multicultural Week
Everything started from March. Don’t even remember how I even got into this whole mcw business…curiosity I suppose…I was in the events team, we basically planned the events of the whole multicultural week and carry it out during the week itself. There’re other teams as well: marketing, media, logistics. At first, we came up with a lot of
And just when I thought my job is done, I was supposed to sell tickets for talent night in 2nd semester. Lunch time gone…sob sobs (I would b eating and jus slacking in the library anyway). T’was quite fun tho....made some frens…stress a bit about the tickets not selling out at first, but luckily still manage to sell it most of it… and showbag packing was somehow memorable…haha…a production line which managed to finish 2000 (or was it 1000?...dat’s wat happen when u blog abt sth 2 months ago).
During the week itself was really fun and exciting…it’s like our own baby coming to live, getting to see wat we’ve been planning for half a year finally coming true and the feedbacks we got back was encouraging.
Opening ceremony (Tue afternoon) was soso- speech and dances. Simple but I think it was just nice- a warm feeling to it, not too crowded. Orange ballons everywhere (but kept being taken off by passers-by)…ohya, we each got an orange shirt (which we wore for the whole week…haha)… Also manage to get some nice photos.

love that girl's expression- peeping over her shoulders
super-like this photo...composition, lighting, subject...so peaceful like dat
Talent night (Wed night) was like the highlight for my department- ran by only 3 person 2 of which emceeing. It was quite nervewrecking coz we only manage to fill up the ‘20 contestants limit’ on the day itself. I was quite nervous as wellcoz I was controlling the sound system and stuff (if I stuff it up, well, the singer will perform badly), and thanks to one of the staff there who helped me out throughout the whole night. Before that night, I went to CS karaoke night (I think was a week before then) and so was also able to comment and give idea so that ours is not as bad (lol..no offence). Tried my best to help the contestants- hope they are satisfied. Omg, that night was really awesome…all the talent we have there…not jus plain ‘ol singing…dancing, monologue, bands. And we have Christopher (one of the contestants from s’pore idol) who eventually became the winner, an old lady (who almost won Utopia’s own karaoke competition but gave up ‘so that others can win’) who was second I think (or was she the third?) and another band. Sorry to my frens whom I cant make time for. It was fun for us as well and new as well coz we hvnt had this event for two yrs if I m not mistaken and we had audience voting session (which was carried out much better than CS’s) and lucky draw which wasn’t as slow and boring. It was ‘chop chop’ and audience weren’t as felt wandering wat’s happening. Schweet… and to see my frens performing was gold…haha…ppl said it was great (better than CS’s)…*proud smile…haha

Spring feast (Thurs night)- too bad I was in the committee, so can’t simply run around to buy stuff to eat. It was something like pasar malam (night market) for those who don’t know, with alfresco eating area provided as well. Some of the nice stuff I ate: omurice (got it for free coz I ate the sample on display…lol…sold out too fast), satay from mahsuri J (somehow lost the last packet of food I bought there- satay and 3 chicken wings for $5!!!! cheap can…), emm, too bad missed out some of the food like rojak, and the ‘balls on stick (lok lok is it?)’…
Stage was so-so, didn’t really concentrate on that, but the area around it was packed, a bit too packed I think. Oh the three winners from talent night came back to perform. The cleaning up afterwards was fun, like we all cooperated and formed long chain of tables and raced… lol…screaming and yelling in uni late at night was fun, crazy actually..haha…wont get much chance of that anytime soon. Had a meeting sitting on the floor while drinking the bland and somemore with bubbles which are too rubbery free bubble tea. Then went back feeling so tired.
this one very dodgy...someone bought the wrong-sized plastic bag...so we cello-taped 4 together...until someone got the correct size....see, every small detail also hv to be considered

Movie night (Fri night) was quite sad- only 5 ppl came to watch. So, ended up us (the committee) watching the films (野蛮女友(cant remember wat’s the English name) and the valet) ourselves, ate quite a lot of sweets (bad bad…*shakes head), : )…actually I wanted to go to curtin pasar malam to see theirs but too bad, was too lazy to travel so far….
checking systems
It was fun…if not for this event, my whole yr would b quite dull dull-er…and luckily my team was all very responsible (since we only hv 3 members)…haha angkat bakul sendiri…will definitely be in it again next yr…b4 I get too busy to be involved in anything in third yr.
