MERDEKA!!!!!

i typed this like a week ago coz i have midsems on 31/8..how sad

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Selamat Hari Kebangsaan! Happy 50th National Day!!! Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

When i was in secondary school, they used to give out flyers during the assembly, and we would sing a few patriotic songs, such as the 'tanggal tiga puluh satu, bulan lapan lima puluh tujuh' or perhaps the 'merahmu bara semangat waja, putihmu bersih budi pekerti' and a few others..

I was looking for one patriotic song, which had malay, chinese and tamil lyrics inside. But sadly, i cant find it. Instead, i found these: advertisements from Petronas. Gotta love these classics. i think they make the best festival advertisements. (I have included explainations as some of you may not understand the advertisement and the title are not official ones, i jus gave them one)
(omg, i can't believe the merdeka celebration in uwa actually had the same idea of celebrating national day...sad)

Warning: dont watch all these at one go..it'll be an emotional rollercoaster ride..:)

Merdeka 2004- Love of two world

A love story of an Indian Boy and a Malay girl. But sadly, the boy has to go back to Madras. Years later he came back...starring a M'sian famous singer cum actress cum host show presenter (the last lady you see, who's already married)

I like the background song -Belaian Jiwa

Merdeka 1999- Boat race

Pretty self explainatory

Merdeka - Old times

The group of people who jumped into the river from a wedding procession.
But as they chatted, the chinese guy realise that his indian friend had passed away one month ago at the same hospital. They continued to say that young people nowadays had the same hairstyle but only care about their own stuff.
The last bit was the circumsision ceremony and they were asking about the bit of skin which got cut off....
'Sharing the tears and the joy, one country walking together to achieve common goal'

Merdeka 1998- Made in Malaysia

And these also:

Hari Raya
2006- Reap what you sow

Read the subtitiles

No charge

That was Jawi he was writing.
A bit like mastercard ad..lol
The last bit was the kid at his father's tomb..

Forgiving

The main character is a M'sian actress.

CNY
2005- My Son's Here

Ok, this is hard to explain...it's in Hokkien and Malay subtitles (so unless u know one of them, you wont understand)
The one has a lawyer daughter and a son who sells Ling Zhi (to America, Hong Kong and even knows Andy Lau and also bought a house in Damansara (an expensive place))
The next one has a specialist (cardiologist) son in London who really earn money.
The third one, has a busy daughter who works in an famous auditing firm and earns AUD150,000 a year.
The fourth lady, has a son who always brings her around when his family go travelling. And she complains that it's so troublesome. And she's off to Cameron Highlands.
'The most priceless gift is a loving family'

Fighting Family

Like old chinese films...

2006- Po po (Grandma)

The red thing he was drwaing and selling was Chinese New Year decorations.
The chicken (if anyone is wondering) is an old-fashioned money- (my mum has a pig one..:@)

2007- Abandoned

Background music - dou shi ni
Ad is in Cantonese
Rarely see those people on bikes selling bread, cakes, titbits and other food around anymore
going to kena- going to get it (punishment)...that was weird translation
OMG..durian

Chopsticks

That old guy is an old M'sian actor.

There was one more i remember(by Kancil), set in the old china times, the princesses were pulling up their sleeves saying that it's so hot, but actually wanting to show off their jewelry...it was like 'hou yit ah' (so hot ah)-pulls up sleeves, show bracelet, another one- 'hou yit ah', fan herself and showing off her ring, another one say hai lo (yalo)- wipe her forehead and show her watch (i know, they dont have watch)...lol

Diwali (Deepavali)
2006-Raju Raaju

As they realise the commotion was no wedding, not a party or deepavali, the uncle had a shock.
rofl..this is free country wat (in chinese accent)
Mutton curry & chapati -Indian food
The dance was :Come Come! Come brother, come sister, come children, come come everyone..
A funny clip, made in Hindi movie style..

Light

Deepavali is the festival of light, so they would have lights put up around the house.
For more info on the festival, go wiki.

Pimpin' vs Paarti (grandma)

When young meets old, funny stuff happens...lol chest cold
Muniandy Chinnadorai was his name
murungakai- a type of indian food

These chinese songs were sang by M'sian singer last year to promote patriotism. Who say patriotic songs are boring..
So sad..so many concerts, celebrations, firework display in M'sia...

And raymond said it well. and i must add, in australia, people still have trouble accepting that, people of other races can be australian. It's like: 'So you are australian?' 'Yes.' 'But you are brown?!' 'Yes, but i was born in australia.' 'I see.' =.=''' . You wont find that in Malaysia. Chinese and Indian and other races are accepted open-heartedly as Malaysians. :)

God bless Malaysia!!!!!!!!

Meh Du Ka! (in foochow)
Mai Dit Ka! (in Canto)
Merdeka!

a stamp i got from my mum..
